Ryan Larkin (July 31, 1943 – February 14, 2007) was a coke addict, an alcoholic, suffering from depression, living on welfare in a mission house and panhandling for spending money. He made his choices and lived with the decision not to comply with the conventional and constructed beliefs that would have him caught up in a web of consumerism. He rose to fame with the psychedelic Oscar-nominated short Walking (1968) and the acclaimed Street Music (1972), but then remained an artist, hit “rock bottom” and left a quartet of passionate, delicate and visual poems to influence artists for generations to come. 

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.”

A visa (from the Latin charta visa, meaning "paper which has been seen"), is a conditional authorization given by a competent authority of a country for a person who is not a citizen of that country to enter its territory and to remain there for a limited duration.

Consumption has become a way of life and the pressure is on the consumers to emulate those who are above them in the economic and social hierarchy. The idea is that a consumer can feel instant gratification and “be” the happy and successful individual, celebrity or social icon that they admire, by purchasing and owning the things that they own.
